To the Moon!

I realize that I have not posted on my poor neglected blog since I've gone back to work full-time. This working for "the man" stuff is for the birds, but since I have a kid to send to college next year, I figure I have to pay for my art supplies somehow. The only downside is that I have no time to use the supplies that I can now afford. (Hey, I still make the challenge badges so I haven't been completely out of the loop at the Snarky Sisterhood.)

However I do work at a school and I had an extra day off this week. Woo-hoo! I managed to make a card and get it photographed, so here it is in time for the G is for Galaxy challenge with the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

I might not have gotten all arty with my background, but I do have a nice space theme going.  I found the sentiment stamp at my local Goodwill store for $1 and it was perfect for this challenge.

So, there is the first of my snark for 2018! If you want to launch some snark into space with us, you have until 11:55 p.m. (2355) on February 23 to play along. Post your project here, where you can also see what my sisters in snark, as well as our current queen have made for your inspiration. Thanks for stopping by.

Zombie Love Brains

We're celebrating Halloween with Zombies at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! Edna has joined the newly undead in their quest for scrumptious brains.

I used these digital images (except for the brain, which is from Useless Trinkets) from Vera Lane Studios.  Aren't my little zombies adorable?

There are just a few rules to follow for this challenge, most importantly that it must be uploaded here by 2355 (11:55 p.m.) EDT on Friday, October 27. Please stop by the Snarky Stampers blog to see what our current Queen of Snark, Michelle, and my fellow Snarky Sisters have made for your inspiration  Thanks for stopping by my blog!

It's Snarktoberfest!

The best ever blog hop starts today. It's called Snarktoberfest. It's like it was made for me and my Snarky Sisters to join in, and guess what? We were even invited to take part.  We always knew that we had people like us out there!

Here is what I made for the Snarky Sisters blog, which is where you should head to if you want to participate in the snarkfest. Or you could start at the beginning of Snarktoberfest 2017 and save the best for last. Go whichever way you choose but there are prizes and rules that must be followed, which you can find on either page.

My rubber stamps were generously contributed by CrackerBox Palace. Here are the links to the stamps that I used.

I love Snarktoberfest!

True Story

The new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is J is for Jumble. We want you to make us a collage. Get creative, stick some old stash together and see what you can do. I love typography and vintage photos and was inspired by Pinterest. Well, who isn't inspired by Pinterest? If you want to see my inspiration board, click here. I love all the images I pinned, but the colors were a bit blah for me.

I started with the strips of old books that I picked up at various flohmarkt (flea markets) while I was living in Germany. There are strips of French and German text, but I think I can only see the French in the final piece. After I had the strips, I coated them with Multi Media Matte. Once dry, I applied watered down gesso. I used both Golden Fluid Acrylics and Ken Olliver's powdered watercolors. The lady and globe were found while searching through the creative commons sites. So, who rules the world? Girls! True story. And also the true story of this collage.

I know that you want to play along with this challenge! You have 15 September at 2355 EST (11:55 p.m.) to enter our J is for Jumble challenge. Please stop by the Sisterhood to see what our current Queen of Snark, Toni, and the Sisters have made for your inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look at my project.

Wedded Bliss

It's that time agin! It's time to get our snark on!

For this challenge Edna wants you to think of weddings. What do weddings mean to you?
Bridezillas? Wedding toasts containing TMI? Drunken bridesmaids? Your 80 year old grandfather on the dance floor?

Edna wants you to use the saying, "Something old, something new; something borrowed; something blue." I always thought that it was a requirement that the bride had to wear each one of these things during the ceremony. Has something to do with some superstition I think.

Here is my take on the wedding theme. I went with a list on Facebook of funny (thanks, Majo!) tweets about marriage/ relationships. I was thoroughly amused by many of the items on the list, and this one made it onto my card.

You'd think that Stella and Gus from Bugaboo digital stamps would be my old item, but you'd be wrong. I bought this digi just for this challenge. Thank you, Christmas in July! Gus and Stella are new to me. Gus's shirt is blue. What's old? The patterned paper. It's from the Basic Gray "Skate Shop" collection, which I think I purchased when my son was two. He's turning 16 shortly. And I already told you my borrowed, which was the sentiment.

Please join us for this challenge. You can be as snarky, or as sweet as you please. You have until 2355 EST (11:55 p.m.) on September 1st, 2017 to upload your project here. Please visit the snarky blogs of my snarky sisters and our current Queen of Snark, Ike, and let them know how awesome they are.
